ANCIENT PACHORA

The History of Pachora province in medieval Khandesh is very much neglected and not given importance. Very few articles are written upon the subject mentioned above, I am trying to put focus on the subject with the help of information collected by available to us. It is situated on riverbank of 'Hivara'. Because of two branches of the river 'Hivara' it becomes an island. It is east, north, west sides are surrounded by 'Hivara'. According to local folk tales, written in the sect of 'Katha-Kalptaru' when Pandawa's were it unknown state, and came (to Pachora) here after the death of 'Bakasura' by Bhima, and before going to Panchavati they lived here, for 3-4 days. 'Draupadi' was the great devotee of lord Shankara. She had a faith in Shankara. So for her the king 'Dharmaraji was build a temple of lord Shankara himself and because of that this town was called, as 'Panchalpur' for a long time, and then Panchaleshwar & gradually it is known as 'Pachore' - 'Pachora'. Behind the 'Panchaleshwar Mandir' the lord Shri Krishna had also came to blessings Pandava (without crossing the Boundary called Shiv): - lived there and so this part of the town now a days called as 'Krishnapuri'.

HISTORY OF PACHORA

Except that behind Mansingka building the temple, which is situated on the bank of river ‘hivara’, has a 900 years old religious history. The name 'Pachora' is given to this town by 'Shri Chakradhar Swami' the temple gives us the proof about this the devotee of this temple gave us the information further about that -before 900 years ago when 'Chakradhar swami' had been traveling in Maharashtra at that time he came into Jalgaon district after that from Chalisgaon, Bhadgaon he came in to Pachora and lived here for 7-8 days when he was came at that time his devotee's - Mahandaieca Dhampecia, Mahimbhat & Nagdev Acharya was with him. When he reached to Pachora at that time he was going to a poor man's house [who works with iron] asked for a chapatti for dinner to the women. The women already cocked the dinner, she was quite surprising had a doubt in her mined and she gives all chapatti’es to swamiji. Swami returned back some chapatti’es and gave blessing to the women. Next day swami went to future journey. His halt for a day here: - the chapaties, which the women gave him from these both concept the town called Pachauri. Today we also found the name Pachauri in 'Lilacharitra' of Mahanubhava's sect. Gradually it is known as Pachora.
